Aim and Scope

Journal Georesursy is a scientific information platform for exchanging knowledge and professional experience for all concerned with development and conservation of the Earth's interior in academia, industry and government. The Editorial Office of the journal Georesursy makes an aim to form the scientific information environment, prompt and reliable distribution of information about research carried out by scientists and industrial workers in the field of prospecting, exploration and development of the mineral resource base of hydrocarbons and solid minerals.

Topics include: geological and geochemical studies, origin and accumulation of mineral resources, management of subsoil use, field development and operation, geophysical surveys and geo-information technologies, mineralogy and lithology, problems of geoecology. Much attention is paid to the geology of oil fields, the study of reservoirs, oil and gas potential, reserves difficult to recover, unconventional resources of hydrocarbons, enhanced oil recovery methods.

The Editorial Office follows the integrated approach and comprehensive study of natural phenomena on micro and macro levels and hopes that the journal contributes for the advancement and integration of knowledge from different sections of Earth Sciences.

The Editorial Office makes every effort to promote international cooperation in order to improve the study of the Earth interior, to exchange views among researchers from different regions and countries. 

From 2016 majority of the articles published in Russian language in the journal Georesursy are translated into English. Full-text electronic versions of the translated articles are freely available to the public on Journal's website over the next few months since date of publication (delay is due to needed time for translation).

Our open access policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition - it means that articles have free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

Peer-Review

A double-blind peer review method is mandatory for processing of all scientific manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Office of the journal Georesursy.

1. Experts in the article’s corresponding areas invited as independent readers, perform peer reviews. Timescales of peer reviewing are defined separately for each article for highest possible fast publication of the article. They should be sufficient for deep analysis of submitted material and are pre-agreed with the author.

We aim to limit the review process to 8-12 weeks, though in some cases the schedule may be adjusted at the reviewer’s request.

With the consideration of the declared research subject the article is sent to the expert who determines:

• Scientific novelty of the provisions contained in the article;
• Relevance of the studied problem;
• Theoretical and practical importance of research results;
• Authenticity of research results test;
• Compliance of the article content with the declared title of the subject;
• Finding out published papers concerning research topic, not mentioned in the manuscript.

2. Upon the scrutiny, the reviewer is expected to present the Editorial Office with one of the following recommendations:

a) to accept the paper in its present state;

b) to invite the author to revise their manuscript to address specific concerns before final decision is reached;

c) that final decision be reached following further reviewing by another expert;

d) to reject the manuscript outright.

3. If the reviewer has recommended any refinements, the Editorial Office would suggest the author either to implement the corrections, or to dispute them reasonably. Authors are kindly required to limit their revision to 2 months and resubmit the adapted manuscript within this period for second review.

4. If author and reviewers meet insoluble contradictions regarding revision of the manuscript, the editorial office is authorized to send the article for additional review. The Editor-in-chief resolves the conflict by his own authority.

5. The Editor-in-chief reaches final decision to reject a manuscript on the hearing according to reviewers’ recommendations, and duly notifies the authors of their decision via e-mail. The Editorial Office does not accept previously rejected manuscripts for re-evaluation.

6. Kindly note that positive review does not guarantee the acceptance, as final decision in all cases lies with the Editor-in-chief.

7. After the decision made by the Editorial Board on admission of article Executive Secretary informs the author and notes the date of publication.

8. Original reviews of submitted manuscripts remain deposited for 5 years.

Publishing Ethics

Editors are directly responsible for prevention of publication malpractice. All articles that fail to meet the below standards, i.e., if some kind of malpractice or unethical behavior are discovered at any stage (even after the publication), will be immediately removed from publication. All mentioned persons undertake the following obligations and strictly observe them in their activities. The chief editor or publisher considers all controversies about compliance with these obligations.

The editors and the editorial board are obliged to:

1. Ensure consideration of all materials submitted for publication, compliance with editorial independence and integrity in making objective decisions, without prejudice to the authors on the basis of ethnic or religious affiliation, social status, regardless of commercial interests and relations with the Founder of the journal;
2. Not to allow the publication of works in respect of which there is sufficient reason to believe that they contain falsification of results, plagiarism, false attribution of authorship, have no scientific value, do not fit the profile of the journal and its published editorial policy;
3. Ensure absence of conflict of interests;
4. Ensure the adoption of measures for compliance with published materials; inspect content of publications on the subject of plagiarism and duplicate publication;
5. Decide on the acceptance or rejection of an article for publication on the basis of comments of independent reviewers in general; report on final decision and reasons for its adoption to the authors;
6. Not to correct arbitrarily the author's text, coordinate with the authors the final version of the article after editorial changes;
7. Not to disclose without the written consent of the author the work process on the article and its contents, not to transmit the author’s material without permission of the author to third parties, except for the journal reviewers; follow the author's right to intellectual property, preventing their use for personal purposes without the consent of the author;
8. Not to leave unanswered complaints concerning the examination of manuscripts or published materials; in a conflict situation take all necessary measures to redress for a violated right;
9. Ensure publication of denials or corrections in the case of error detection; • Involve peer review of objective and competent professionals; carry out their replacement, if necessary;
10. Guarantee a provision of an independent review of materials in a manner allowing ensure the integrity and objectivity of statements about the scientific value of the article proposed for publication;
11. Maintain confidentiality of personal data of reviewers;
12. In accordance with the journal policy establish the procedure for the review of materials submitted for publication;
13. Implement journal’s policy to ensure and maintain a high standard in the scholarly literature, to identify suitably qualified editorial board members who can actively contribute to the development and good management of the journal; implement journal’s policy of constant improvement of review institutions, editorial process and materials’ expert review;
14. Inform the authors and reviewers of what is expected from them.
15. The editors and the editorial board are aware of their responsibility for the decision to accept or reject the article.

Authors of publications are obliged to:

1. Confirm the authenticity and validity of the data provided;
2. Ensure that the article is published for the first time and has not been previously published or sent to another journal; • Ensure that the list of authors includes only those who have made significant contribution to the work, and that researchers who deserve the authorship are not excluded from the list of the authors;
3. Participate in the process of finalizing the article and, if necessary, provide a denial or correct errors;
4. Take into account all the works that had value in conducting research, and provide links to them;
5. Avoid excessive borrowing and plagiarism in any form;
6. Not to use information from a personal conversation or correspondence; the information can be used in research only with the written consent of the person who provided it;
7. Not to copy from other publications references to the works with which they are not familiar;
8. Ensure the originality of the research results; the use of works or statements of other authors should be given with an indication of the bibliographic references to relevant work, referring primarily to the source;
9. Notify the editors in case of any error detected in submitted publication, accepted for publication or already published work and interact with the editor for the early withdrawal of the publication or correction of errors;
10. Disclose in their manuscript every financial or other support for the research, on the results of which the manuscript has been prepared;
11. Disclose a conflict of interests that may be perceived as influenced the results or conclusions presented in the work.
12. If the work involves the use of chemicals, procedures or equipment, during operation of which any unusual risks are possible, the author must clearly identify it in the manuscript.
13. If the work assumes participation of animals or humans as objects of study, the authors should ensure that the manuscript states that all stages of the study comply with the legislation and regulations of research organizations, and are approved by the relevant committees. The manuscript should clearly reflect that all the people who have become objects of study gave informed consent. It is always necessary to monitor compliance with rights to privacy.
14. If the editor or the publisher have received information from a third party that the publication contains significant errors, the author is obliged to withdraw the work, or to correct errors as soon as possible.

Reviewers are obliged to:

1. Provide an objective and reasoned assessment of the material submitted;
2. Respect the point of view of the author; personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
3. Identify meaningful works, corresponding to the research topic, but not mentioned by the authors;
4. Inform the members of the editorial board if the manuscript under review has a significant similarity to previously published articles, that is, cases of plagiarism;
5. If there is a conflict of interests or other reasons not to assess the article objectively, report on this to the editors for the selection of another reviewer;
6. Do not use for personal purposes unpublished data obtained from the manuscripts submitted for consideration; do not store copies or transmit materials of the article under review to other persons;
7. Maintain confidentiality when reviewing.

Publisher is obliged to:

1. The Publisher follows the principles and procedures to facilitate the execution of the ethical obligations of the editors, the editorial board, reviewers and authors of the journal in accordance with these requirements. The Publisher confirms that the potential profit from advertising does not affect the decisions of the Editors.
2. The Publisher promotes good practices for conducting research and implements industry standards in order to improve the ethical recommendations, withdrawal procedures and error corrections.
3. The Publisher provides the appropriate specialized legal support in case of need.
4. The Publisher supports journal editors in the review of complaints raised concerning ethical issues and help communications with other journals and/or publishers.

Author fees

• Authors pay a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover the costs of management, professional production of articles in PDF and other formats, and dissemination of published papers in various venues, in addition to other publishing functions. 

• The APC is 25,000 rubles for authors presenting the results of scientific research funded by grants, contracts and other external funding sources.

• There is no APC for authors whose articles are written as a result of their own independent research, without funding sources.

• Authors or their institutions pay an APC after their paper has been accepted for publication. 

• After payment, the article is published in order of priority.

• The APC is not refundable if the publication rules are violated, plagiarism is detected, etc.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.

Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Plagiarism detection

Journal Georesursy uses native russian-language plagiarism detection software Antiplagiat to screen the submissions. If plagiarism is identified, the COPE guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.
